August 2019: 50 Years of Zimex Aviation
Time to celebrate – one of the oldest Swiss airlines celebrates its 50-year history.
Zimex Aviation welcomes guests from all over the world
On Saturday, 31st of August 2019 our event location, the Airforce Center in Dübendorf, presented itself under the motto “Orient, Occident and in the Middle of the Dessert”.
250 employees, customers, partners and aviation enthusiasts from all over the world followed Zimex Aviation’s invitation. Thematically, the guests were taken back into the beginnings of Zimex Aviation, when the founder Hannes Ziegler first landed on July 21st, 1969, between two sandy dunes in Africa.
Our Chairman, Guy Girard opened the official part of the evening with an emotional speech and the premier of the newly produced company movie that guides through the facets of the company.
He also highlighted another historical event of this year: The 100th anniversary of Swiss Commercial Aviation with some fun facts and historical alignments to Zimex’s business today.
Before Guy Girard’s speech completed, he proudly announced “A passion for flying”, a book that takes the reader on a journey starting with Zimex Aviation’s origins, followed by the company’s first steps and leading through our present operations toward an outlook on the prospects.
The culinary journey of the evening started with an African picnic, guests travelled in the following courses through a potpourri of flavours and colours up to the dessert that came with an additional surprise. Our CEO, Daniele led through the evening, highlighting that all achievements are based on the employees and their daily work around the globe. These thanks were in particular extended to all our employees who could not be with us as they were on duty. For all employees on duty a special dinner will be organize, during their yearly refresher courses in Switzerland, to celebrate with them this landmark date.
